Julia Haas - Artist

I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in San Antonio, Texas. I have been tattooing professionally for 6+ years now, using both hand-poke and machine.

My work follows the intersections of my experience and craft as an artist and designer. Before tattooing, I studied design and worked extensively with letterpress archives and wood type, which shaped the way I approach image-making.

I am mindful of composition, line quality, and how a tattoo will live on the body over time. Whether it's a small patchwork piece or a larger custom project, I aim to create work that is both visually striking and personal.

My favorite subjects include local plants, birds, insects, animals, vintage illustrations, hand-lettering, folk imagery, and objects that carry a sense of history and place. I'm especially interested in the intersection of design, nature, and storytelling, and I enjoy creating tattoos that feel both familiar and unique.

Above all, I strive to make the tattoo experience collaborative, welcoming, and thoughtful. Tattooing is an special form of self-expression, and it's a privilege to create artwork that people carry with them for life.
